Bold flavours inspired by the
global travels of Executive
Chef Kanwardeep Ahluwalia & Baldeep Singh

Bar Asra is a globally inspired cocktail bar and restaurant in Vancouver’s South Granville neighbourhood. Led by Executive Chefs Kanwardeep Ahluwalia and Baldeep Singh, the menu reimagines dishes from around the world through the lens of travel, migration, and memory. With bold flavour combinations, seasonal spontaneity, and a focus on underused ingredients, each dish is crafted to spark curiosity and conversation. Designed for sharing, the menu invites guests on a sensory journey that feels both personal and adventurous.

The experience continues behind the bar with a cocktail program by Bar Manager Matthew Locke, where inventive, globally influenced drinks reflect the same spirit of reinvention. From refreshed highballs to unique flavour pairings, every pour is intentional. The space—modern and nature-inspired—offers a welcoming setting whether you’re gathering with friends or enjoying a solo drink. At Bar Asra, bold flavours and vibrant energy come together in a place where curiosity leads and every visit offers something new.

Baldeep Singh

CO-OWNER, EXECUTIVE CHEF

Baldeep, he knew he wanted to be a chef at age 10! Choosing culinary arts over aeronautical engineering, he started with the Hyatt Group, managing the iconic Guchhi, a specialty kitchen known for its north Indian food in Kolkata. He immigrated to Canada in 2010 and soon landed an exciting opportunity with Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, where he introduced Indian menus to diners and established the hotel as a premium destination for Indian weddings.
